Essa's a robot! The King of Hearts is the only king without a moustache (=I)
What's the part in the parentheses?

(=5) was suppose to indicate how many numbers to shift by, to find the starting point.
So before A = 1 Now it's E = 1
With E being the 5th character but I think you are way ahead of the game right now.
Or just look at it as a smiling face haha.

doh! I thought of it was a transposition of 4 for the caesar cipher (A moves down 4 letters to E) I actually figured it out because 16/4/1 repeated twice, and that none of the numbers were greater than 26. When I finished, I thought.. Is that a smiley face with a moustache and a hat? but he shouldn't have a moustache!! I am prone to overthinking problems

Some good points there, will try to make the next puzzle of the week with numbers greater than 26 this time. I shall put on my puzzle thinking hat.
Don't worry, I over think problems too. Actually these puzzles are quite interesting to create, as I create them with a certain mindset but when participants solve it - they think of entirely different aspects to the initial puzzle.
